Glossary#
This glossary explains core terminology of MOIA’s Fleet API product.
Fleet API#
MOIA’s Fleet API enables the efficient, safe, and legally compliant utilisation and operation of a Fleet of different Vehicles, agnostic to any one specific business model. This allows Missions to be managed for multiple mobility use cases, such as ride-pooling, ride-hailing and Transport as a Service (TaaS).
Fleet#
A Fleet is a group of Vehicles which is associated to an Operational Area (OA). This grouping is arbitrary/user-defined and contains only vehicles of a specific Operator.
The current state of the MOIA system allows for only a single Fleet per OA.
Vehicle#
A Vehicle is a single entity of a Fleet, which is expected to move within the OA, completing its specific Mission.
Ride#
A Ride is a requested transportation of passengers / goods from an origin to a destination for execution by a specific Vehicle in the Fleet.
Partners can evaluate requested Rides and dispatch them to a Vehicle using MOIA’s Fleet API.
Mission#
A Mission is a set of Waypoints for a specific Vehicle to complete in a predefined order. It contains a set of updating instructions along with context data (e.g. timestamps and actions expected at each waypoint).
Waypoint#
A Waypoint is a particular stopping place that a Vehicle is requested to go to. Waypoints consists of both a location and Waypoint Action (actions that are requested to occur at Waypoint i.e. pick-up passenger/s or service break of Vehicle).
Waypoint Action#
Waypoint Action is the activity that is required for a specific Waypoint. Each Waypoint can have multiple Waypoint Actions. There are currently four main types of Waypoint Actions: Pickup, Drop-off, Rebalancing, Service Break.
Operational Area#
An Operational Area (OA) defines the area in which automated driving functions may be used.
